Locks of Love

This morning I went and cut 10 inches off of my hair and donated it to Locks of Love. They make wigs for children suffering from long-term or permanent medical hair loss and rely entirely on donations. I had been planning on cutting off my hair and I made the decision last week to donate it to this wonderful cause. It gives me a wonderful feeling knowing that all of my hair is going to a child who needs it. And it will help a little girl or boy feel pretty or handsome again. A lot of people are saying that I am brave or that they wouldn't be able to do what I did. I just tell them it's for a great cause and my hair will grow back. In fact, I am thinking about growing it out again to donate once more. We'll see how long it takes to grow :)

Anyway, I had the hubby take pictures, so I wanted to share them with all of you.

The before pic, lots of curly hair!

During! It's all gone!

The 10 inch ponytail she cut off!

Front view of the finished product.

The back!

And no, I didn't color it, that is my natural hair color, just all of the light part of my hair got cut off! My hair gets really light because I'm out in the sun a lot :)

So, that was my Thursday adventure! Hope everyone has had a good week and that you have a great weekend!

Great Weekend!!

My best friend Susan came down to spend the weekend with me! We had a blast as usual, it was a much needed girls weekend! We watched a ton of movies, most of which had us either saying, what the heck?!? or laughing hysterically! We had quite the strange movie weekend, here's the list:

"The Baby" - A movie from the 70's that was beyond twisted, bad acting and everything! It was highly disturbing!

"Sex & Breakfast" - Very weird and pretty disappointing all together. . .

"Secretary" - Very, very weird, and disturbing. . . and of course it had it's parts that made us laugh.

"Bitten" - A very dark comedy about a Vampire. . . best part was the Barney (big purple dinosaur) song they played a few times "Tidy up your mess!" hahahaha, it was great!

"Get Him To The Greek" - Awesome! We were laughing the whole time, it's crazy, and it has Jonah Hill in it, and I love him, he cracks me up!

"Hall Pass" - I about fell out of the chair laughing at a few parts. . . stars Owen Wilson, he's great in crazy comedies! Best part is a bathroom scene. . . that scene was gross, but it wasn't what I expected. . . that's what made it so funny!

"What's Eating Gilbert Grape" - This is a mutual favorite of me and Susan, it's a classic, and we've watched it a few times together, it's going to become a standard for our movie weekends for sure!

So. . . I think that's it. Of course in between movies we had some great girl talk and I made a couple of awesome dinners. It's nice to have company when my parents are out of town and the hubby is sleeping all day. Only bummer to the weekend is that my husband's sister flaked on coming over to spend the weekend with us, but hopefully she'll come over next time!

Busy week ahead for me, two papers to write, a quiz to study for and an exam to study for. . . can't wait for my Spring Break in a couple of weeks! Hope everyone had a great weekend and has a great week!

It's Official!

Next Thursday morning I am cutting off 10 inches of my hair to donate to locks of love! I'm doing this in memory of my best friend who passed away from cancer when I was a senior in high school. I have been blessed with a beautiful head of hair, and I'm happy to give it to a cause that is so wonderful and share my hair with someone who really needs it.

What A Weekend!

I finally felt better by Friday, just in time to give my Mom a break from staying with my Uncle! The last several nights I've been at the hospital, and then I've been sleeping some what during the day, although it's hard for me to sleep then, and I'm absolutely exhausted! I was going to try and lay down for a couple hours now, but I don't have time to. I have to shower and change and get ready to go to a meeting with my husband's Grandmother's doctor and case worker. We are trying to get her into that assisted living place. So maybe this afternoon I will get a nap in.

It's been rough, things have been stressful :/  A couple more weeks and I'm on Spring Break, thinking about asking my sis-in-law's Mom if I can spend the week at her beach condo here in town, even if it's just for a few days so I can have some stress-free time to relax.

Also would like to wish my wonderful parents a Happy 41st Wedding Anniversary! They have been a wonderful example to me over the years of what love should be. I love my parents so much and I'm so lucky to have them both in my life.

Okay, I'm off, hope everyone is having a good week. Still have a couple letters that need to get written, staying at the hospital again tonight, so I will get them done then since I hardly sleep while I'm there.

Rough Few Days

I know I've been neglecting. . .

I had a great time on Saturday! Went over to the inlaw's for a wonderful dinner and a long overdue visit! As in inlaws, I mean David's stepmom's house. His mom and stepdad live in Las Vegas.  Anyway, it was a nice night, but went by way too fast, had to leave a lot earlier than usual because of David working graveyard.

Yesterday my Uncle went into the hospital again. He's already in a nursing home, they don't take care of him right (it's a horrible place, but we can't find a space for him in a better one) and then he ends up in the hospital. I think it's worse than usual this time. He's disabled from arthritis and pain medications barely help him anymore, he has a high tolerance to the medication because he's been taking them for so long. So anyway, he has fluid in his legs and now in his arms as well, and I just don't think this is looking good. He has fluid in his lungs as well, keeps getting pneumonia and it just keeps coming back once he stops medication. So that has me feeling blue and worried and I can't go see him because I decided to come down with a horrible cough on Sunday! I don't know where it came from, but it's awful, and no other symptoms, except for a sore throat from coughing so darn much!

Then a couple hours ago David's Mom in Vegas called me. We've been having problems with his Grandma lately, she has dementia (almost alzheimer's) and they've been trying to get her into an assisted living place for months. Well she fell today, third time in about a year and a half. She didn't hurt herself. But Tuesdays is the day that a family friend goes by to see her, we usually go Wednesdays and Fridays, and the family friend found her, and I guess she fell around 7am and Linda didn't find her until around noon, and she had messed herself and it was just bad. So we need to push to get her into a place as soon as possible. I really hate insurance companies and doctors, they have been dragging their feet for so long! We have fought and fought with them, but there's always a "process". If they would just get it done and get her into a place this probably wouldn't have happened. She lives in a tiny one bedroom place so it's not like we are able to stay with her so that she can stay in her house.

So, it's just been a nightmarish couple of days with family stuff going on and not feeling well. I have a huge test in two days that I haven't studied for at all and two letters that I still need to get written. Ugh, I just need to feel better!!!!!!!

Not much going on. . .

I haven't really been on the computer much. The last couple of days I wasn't feeling well, think it has something to do with this slight head cold I came down with, been having dizzy spells.

So today I woke up and I'm actually feeling better, but I slept wrong and have a sore muscle in my neck, no fun! And it's on the right side too, which means if I can't get it to go away today, no bowling for me tomorrow :(

Anyway, no mail except for junk. . .but that's expected, this week, lol. Do have a first letter to a new pal to get written, but now it will have to wait until Friday, my day off from school work, because I have a lot to get done today and tomorrow. . .

So, not much of substance today, hope everyone is having a good week so far!

Some randomness from this last week

Thought I would post some random pictures from the last week :)

Last Saturday my niece came to spend the day and I curled up the ends of her hair, it turned out pretty cute, we had a fun day!

The Rusty boy! I loved the expression on his face in this one. He's my parents' dog.

It's hard to see, because I had to use my cell phone (no flash photography allowed at the bowling alley!!) but this is my Hubby getting a "300 Game" shirt from the bowling alley for the 300 game he bowled on Feb. 1st. The manager of the alley is holding the shirt up to himself (hubby is the bald one, lol).

The hubby on the approach. The reason for this picture was to send to his Mom to prove that he was not only wearing pants, but he was bowling in pants! My husband always wears shorts, even in the rain, so it's very rare that he wears pants, even in winter! Oh, I just noticed, the front ball on the left side of the ball return is my bowling ball! The pretty purple and gold one, I'll need to remember next week to take a close-up picture of my ball to show everyone!

My Dad came home from vacation on Wednesday and brought me two shot glasses! I collect them, so any time anyone is going anywhere I always ask them to bring me a shot glass back! I had asked Dad for a Superman one, he went to Metropolis to meet some cousins, but he surprised me by also bringing me a Kentucky one! My Uncle (his brother) lives in Lexington, KY.

The 300 ring has finally arrived!! My hubby gave me this ring, and I thought I guessed my ring size correctly to wear it on my right hand, but I didn't guess right, so I'll have to get a chain to wear it around my neck instead.

So, there's some random photos from my week. . . maybe I should make this a weekly ritual. . . unfortunately I don't always remember to take pictures. . . I guess I'll have to start.

Golf Day on Tuesday 2-21-12!

Like I said, I've been so far behind and meaning to post these for over a week, but finally pictures of golf! My hubby and his brother-in-laws are the golfers, I just enjoy going along for the ride and driving the golf cart!

It was a beautiful day for golf, although it was a little windy!

The hubby's golf clubs.

My hubby teeing off. Hard to see, but what they call the "tee box" is actually two rocks spaced about 15 feet apart and you put your tee somewhere in between them depending on where you need to stand, it's a little confusing at first, I thought there was an actual box to stand on or something, lol.

All three boys putting, I think this is the hardest part in my opinion.

My hubby is waving "Hello" to all of my blog readers! I know it's hard to see, silly me , I took this picture with my cell phone rather than my digital camera, so it didn't turn out like I planned, lol.

Just me, sitting in the golf cart, for the boys to finish on whatever hole they're on, that's basically what I do the whole time, but I love being out there in the fresh air and sunshine!

My hubby and I <3

On the front (aka first) nine holes you can actually see part of the highway from the golf course! That was sort of new for me, lol.

The golf carts actually had little windshields on them, definitely a first for me! The brother-in-laws' cart and clubs parked in front of me.

So, this is something I really don't understand. Apparently clean golf balls are more aerodynamic or something, so they have these things at the start of every hole. You put the golf ball in that holder and then move it up and down, in the bottom tub part is soapy water, and it cleans your golf ball. Like I said, I don't get it, but my one brother-in-law cleans his on almost every hole, so I had to take a picture, lol.

The score card. . . although I didn't have to keep score for the hubby this time, good thing too, because it's kind of confusing! Underneath is an advertisement for the "19th Hole" (aka the bar).

I loved, loved, loved these old barrels that they used as the hole markers!! I thought they were so cool. They also had several directional ones spaced around the cart paths, so creative!

One of the bridges crossing the stream that runs the length of the golf course.

Uh oh, someone got in the bunker! This is one place you don't want to be! But he was lucky and got his ball our of the sand with just one swing! The green for this whole was actually surrounded by four bunkers, guess they were trying to add a challenge.

I just thought the way this tree grew at such an angle was kinda cool so I had to get a picture.

These ducks or birds (not sure what breed they are) were always in big groups in the stream, they were funny little things, they would see a cart coming and all start to move even if you were pretty far away from them.

Another view of one of the greens and you can see a road back behind it as well. And those two tiny people are my hubby and one of his brother-in-laws. . . well, they're mine too, but you know what I mean, lol.

A beautiful sunset to end the day!

So, there are the golf pictures, finally!! Sorry it took me so long and hope you enjoyed seeing my day through my camera lens!

Mail Call!

I am so far behind on posting this!! Sorry everyone!

Actually got this a couple of weeks ago and kept forgetting to post!

A first letter from new pal Laney! Seems like we have quite a bit in common!

And finally got some long overdue mail sent out today!

First a letter to my pal Jennifer.

Next my reply to Laney.

And last, but not least, a first letter to new pal Shannah!

So, I'm all caught up on mail as of right now, which gives me plenty of time to study this weekend. Although I need to start restocking postcards, I should've asked my Dad to pick some up while he was on vacation in Tennessee and Kentucky!  Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Had to Change Again

The blog that I had gotten my template from is going offline next month, so I changed my design again. Hopefully this will be the last change for awhile. I like this one. I thought it was cute :)

Short for now, lots to get done while the hubby is taking his nap before work tonight! Hope everyone is having a great week! Yay, the weekend is almost here!!
